Sendai - Miyagi NPO Center is a voluntary
organization for supporting grass-root movements
and Nonprofit Organizations (NPOs), based
on 4 purposes.
1. To Spread Messages for Necessity of NPOs
We aim to form appropriate public opinion by holding symposiums and sending messages through newsletters, FAX, e-mail, homepage, press release, and so forth.
2. To Provide Support and Service to Empower NPOs
We help NPOs to improve their manegement capabilities by giving tips on management, holding training courses, offering management resources, and networking.
3. To Act as a Nonprofit Political Think-Tank
We promote citizen participation and democratization in Japanese society through advocacy for policy change, research and consulting activities.
4. To Promote Partnership with Business Sector to Create New Civil Society in the 21st Century
We collaborate with the business sector to create new relationship between profit and nonprofit sectors. For example, we develop resources for supporting NPOs with local private enterprises.
Establishment: July 1, 1999 as a specified nonprofit corporation
(November 1, 1997 as a voluntary group)
Mission: Sendai-Miyagi NPO center aims to develop
activities of Nonprofit Organizations in
Sendai, Miyagi area, by providing infrastructure
and by promoting partnerships and collaborations
between NPOs and local governments or private
enterprises.
Outline:
(1) To collect and provide information useful
to activities of Nonprofit Organizations
(NPOs).
(2) To provide consultation to promote activities
of NPOs.
(3) To provide tips on finance and management
to empower NPOs.
(4) To promote networking among NPOs. To
help NPOs to collaborate with government
and business sectors.
(5) Research activities to make policy proposal.
(6) Other activities needed for achievement
of our mission.
